Lisa Wessan is nationally known
as an inspirational author and seminar leader, and is an accredited member of
the National Speakers Association.
While living in New York
City, Wessan started her journalism career as a
science and health reporter, specializing in biotechnology for Genetic Engineering News and other publications.
After five years Wessan became a talk show producer in television and
radio at NBC and WOR. She also spent some time
working in broadcast sales, and eventually became the Vice President of
Satellite Broadcasts for the International Institute
for Learning, Inc. in
New York City, where she successfully increased sales by over $150,000 a
month using her unique marketing strategies and sales techniques.
By age 40, Wessan was disillusioned by network television news and
sales, so she went back to school to become a clinical social worker,
specializing in group work and geriatric healthcare.
While doing research on stress management
techniques in graduate school, Wessan explored the
research on therapeutic uses of laughter for caregivers.
During post-graduate research on laughter therapy, Wessan
became double certified to teach Therapeutic Laughter Yoga and Laughter
Meditation. Wessan
is one of the pioneers in the field who have learned to successfully
incorporate humor and laughter into team building, wellness programs and
other topics and trainings.
As a full-time licensed
counselor and coach,
Wessan developed her core work to
support and invigorate her clients’ resiliency, prosperity and longevity
possibilities.
Due to her great success
with clients and corporations over the years, her work has frequently been featured in the media,
including interviews on CNN, Paula Zahn Now, The Boston Globe, The
Lowell Sun and The Wall Street Journal.
Since 2006, Wessan has been based in North Chelmsford, MA, but
travels widely presenting her uplifting and empowering keynotes and seminars.
Wessan is also the on-air
host and producer of the weekly cable television show Z Lighter Side of Transformation.
